Year 7

In Digital Technologies, students engage in the processes of analysing problems, designing, developing and evaluating digital solutions, and creating and sharing information that meets a range of needs. Students are introduced to programming code in Javascript and/or Python through the use of online gaming. They are introduced to pseudo code and flowchart decision making. Students are introduced use the ‘Edison’ robot for Python programming and problem solving using its five sensors. Students are introduced to the concept of networks and digital components, and they learn about how computer systems interact. They also introduced to the impact of digitech on society, exploring privacy, online etiquette and encryption.

Year 8

In Year 8 Digital Technologies, students refine the processes of analysing problems, designing, developing and evaluating digital solutions, and creating and sharing information that meets a range of needs. Students revise and extend their programming skills in Javascript and/or Python through the use of several international online gaming platforms. They refine documented, pseudo code and create more complex flowchart documentation. Students develop their further ‘Edison’ robot logic and problem solving skills using Python programming. Students investigate types of networks and business digital components, and are introduced to large computer systems interaction. They revisit and further investigate the impact of digitech on society and are also introduced to multiple basic encryption methods.
