This program integrates theory and practical work through activities that require thought, action and reflection to produce a result. The Woodwork program aims to develop skills and knowledge that further extend and develop during the Middle and Senior school years. These skills prove highly desirable if students wish to enter the workforce as a trade professional, for transferability to other areas or just for general interest.

Students will be shown how to correctly and safely use a number of hand and power tools and complete a safety ‘how to use’ test. This allows them to gain an understanding of the technology associated with a number of various woods.

Students develop skills associated with design, manufacture, research and evaluation (the technology process). They will also understand the benefits of recycling and reusing timber.

Students will be actively working in groups in all practical sessions to sucessfully complete each unit of Woodwork.
