Textiles is studied for one term at both Year 7 and 8:

Year 7 and 8 are 3 sessions per fortnight.
Textiles gives students an introduction to sewing and the related skills required in the textiles field. Students are actively encouraged to incorporate their own creative design ideas into their projects, which they then complete.

An evaluation of the finished project is then completed to establish the success of the design. All projects have a practical use, either at school or for the home.

There is a steady progression in the complexity of the models and the skill levels required to complete the models, from completing a simple pencil case and patchwork cushion in Year 7, to boxer shorts and hooded jumpers in Year 8.

Students begin to understand the different types of fibres and investigate their characteristics.
