Cobden Technical School is committed to preparing our students to become community and professional
leaders. Students are encouraged to take on leadership roles in an endeavour to develop their own
leadership skills, act as positive role models for the student body and offer responsible service to their
school, peers and the community.

School Captain
The School Captains are role models for our whole school. As a School Captain, you are known and
respected by all members of the school community because of your outstanding history of performance
and contribution.
The School Captains play an important role in organising and presenting at school events. You will:
● Actively promote our school HEART values at all times
● Always display exemplary behaviour in accordance with the school rules and expectations,
including attendance and wearing the correct uniform in any situation
● Assist with the organisation and conduct of general assemblies
● Speak on behalf of students and the school at school functions and other special events
● Represent the school at events and functions as required
● Report to the school community with contributions to the school newsletter and other forums
● Communicate and liaise with staff as well as students in other leadership roles including House
Captains and SRC
● Participate in school planning meetings with Assistant Principal, Principal and Sub School Leaders
to ensure a safe, positive and challenging learning environment is maintained within the school
to meet all students’ needs

2. An excellent record of academic work effort and attitude
3. An excellent record of conduct
4. A record of taking initiative and active participation in all school activities
5. Strong and confident communication skills
6. Ability to lead and work cooperatively with others
7. A vision for the continued improvement of Cobden Technical School
At the beginning of Term 4, prospective applicants in Year 11 will be invited to submit a one page written
application addressing the selection criteria and complete an interview process. School Captains will be
presented to the school community at the final Year 12 assembly of the year prior to beginning their
position.
